ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOCKEY SCHOOLS - SUMMER CAMP - JUNE 24-28, 2019

June 24-28, 2019 - PARK CITY ICE ARENA, PARK CITY, UT

Skills, Drills, & Small Area Games (6-10yrs): Group #1
The age groups that we will work with in these camps will be 6 to 10 years of age. As all of us know players under 10 need to work on fundamentals and skills in a fun learning environment.
The skating that will be covered will work on edges, skating stride backward and forward, crossover, stopping, turning, quicker starts, and transitional skating. Puck skills like passing, stickhandling, and over all better control of the puck will be covered in full detail. All of these skills will be taught in full detail. After the skills are improved the staff will show how to use the skills in game situations within small area games and hockey specific drills.

  • 6-10 year old players, All players must have 1 year playing experience
  • $490
  • 8:30am - 3:30pm daily
  • 3 hours on-ice per day
  • 90 minutes off ice per day
  • SportsBoard Player Assessment
  • Campers must pack their lunches daily
  • Schedules subject to change due to registration levels up to one week before the first day of camp

Reading & Reacting Camps
Reading and reacting is one of the most important aspects of the game of hockey. Each player must be able to read what is happening, anticipate correctly, and react properly by moving to the appropriate space to make the play or support their teammates in advance of the puck. As we sat, it is much easier to anticipate where the puck will be, and go to a particular point in the rink ahead of it, than it is to chase it around.
In this camp, we will cover the correct diagnosis, and response needed, for game situations such as cycling, odd man rushes (both for and against), power play and penalty kill, movement through the neutral zone, defensive zone coverage, offensive zone coverage, face offs, playing away from the puck, offensive and defensive play at the puck, back-checking and fore-checking.

ATTENTION GOALTENDERS - Every RMHS camp will offer professional goaltending instruction from one of our professional goaltending coaches. We limit theses spots to four goaltenders per group.

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR - 11/26/18

Dear Park City Ice Miner’s Families,

I hope all is well and everyone enjoyed time with their families on Thanksgiving and the break it offered.  We had some teams traveling and some getting a well-earned short break.

I am writing you to get out some information and let you know we will be running a survey in December. Please look for the e-mail in the coming week and the link to take the survey.  We are striving to make this a great organization and we would appreciate your feedback.  To continue to improve, we need to know what is working so we can continue in those areas.  In addition, we also need to know what is not working so we can focus on those areas that need improvement and find ways to make them better.

This week we will have our specialty coaches on the ice for our 10U to 18U players.  On Tuesday, November 27th, we will have our Goalie Coach Mark Sample running a goalie clinic from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.   Coach Bennett and Coach Angevine will be on the ice during the normal practice hours to run our ADM practices.  We have had a few parents inquire why kids are not being “corrected in their skills” the first part of these practices.  During the first part of the hour, Coach Bennett is just warming up the players and getting them moving.  After that, the players are then broken down into smaller groups/stations to focus on specific skills.  It is in these stations that players will receive more focused coaching and corrections on specific skills if they are not doing them properly.  Furthermore, breaking into smaller groups also allows for our Head Coaches to have a station so that they can work on specific skills they feel their entire team needs to work on.

Finally, look for your players evaluation data from the skills testing sessions we did earlier this month.  We will e-mail this information out by December 1st.

Go Ice Miners!

Mike Adamek

Park City Ice Miner Hockey Director

When we view our lives through the lens of gratitude and appreciation we experience a level of freedom and fulfillment like never before. Sometimes in life it’s when we lose one of our blessings — our health, our mobility, a loved one, a job, a friend — that we put aside our grumblings and gain a true appreciation for all the gifts that grace our lives.  This holiday season, my we all be grateful for the love of sport, friendship and everything hockey provides to us all!
