2017-2018 SEASON NEW LOGO AND UNIFORM ANNOUNCEMENT

We are very excited to announce and share with players and parents our new logo and uniforms for the upcoming 2017-2018 season.  We were given the opportunity to work with an NHL creative team who provided us with both the new logo design and a relationship with Warrior, our new uniform provider.

Moving forward with the new logo and uniforms, we will require all URL Division 1, Travel and Tier players to get a new set of uniforms.  The cost will be $75 per adult-sized uniform for a total of $150 and $60 per youth-sized uniform for a total of $120.  This is an exceptional cost for the quality of jerseys we will be receiving.  This cost will be added to your player fees and does include the matching socks.  URL D2 player will have the option to purchase their jersey with their name and number or renting a jersey for the season (no name and random number) for a $30 annual fee.

We realize that this negatively affects the members who have uniforms that still fit.  We apologize for the related inconvenience, but there will never be a time when at least some proportion of our members would not be affected.  We hope our members can understand this and join us in our excitement of moving forward on this initiative.

We will be e-mailing out confirmations of the uniform sizing information we collected during tryout registrations.  We will also be offering 4 fitting sessions at the Park City Ice Arena on:

            6/24/17 – Saturday: 2:00 – 3:30 PM

            6/25/17 – Sunday: 10:30 – 11:30 PM

            6/27/17 – Tuesday: 5:00 – 6:30 PM

            6/28/17 – Wednesday: 6:00 – 7:00 PM

Please come to one of these sessions if your player has 1) not been fitted yet, 2) the sizing information from their registration was incomplete, or 3) you want to reconfirm their sizing against the new Warrior jerseys.  We have mapped the sizes from last year’s jerseys to the new Warrior jerseys and the sizes are listed below:

YS - no exact mapping (Warrior has a single YS/YM size)

YM - no exact mapping (Warrior has a single YS/YM size)

YL - no exact mapping (Warrior has a single YL/YXL size)

YXL - no exact mapping (Warrior has a single YL/YXL size)

AS - exact match

AM - exact match

AL - exact match

AXL - exact match

AXXL - This is a new size offered by Warrior

AXXXL - This is a new size offered by Warrior

GOALIE CUT – This is a new size offered by Warrior – we will have the size chart soon for these and will reach out to the goalies to see if they would like this cut.

Once again, we are excited to make this announcement and look forward to a great 2017-2018 season!

ICE MINERS NEW 16U TRAVEL COACH

The Park City Ice Miners are proud to announce the addition to their 2017-2018 Coaching Staff.  Ben Wilner will be the new 16U Travel coach.  Ben Wilner was born in Chicago, Illinois and began his hockey career at age four when he joined the Skokie Flyers organization.  Hockey has been his lifelong passion as he progressed through all levels of youth hockey, from Mini-Mites through Bantam Travel.  During high school, he represented Utah at the Rocky Mountain District Development Camp and was a Utah High School All-Star as a defenseman his junior year and as a forward his senior year.  He played ACHA Division 2 hockey, first at Utah State and then at the University of Utah, where he was the alternate captain for two seasons.  After college, Ben had a brief go at pro hockey.  He attended training camps with the Bloomington Prairie Thunder in the IHL; the Dyer, Indiana Blizzard of the AAHL and the Madison Ice Muskies of the AAHL.  He played 2 preseason games with the Ice Muskies and dressed for one game with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL.

ICE MINERS NEW DIRECTOR OF PLAYER DEVELOPEMENT

Press Release: New Director of Player Development for the Park City Ice Miners

Date: May 11, 2017

Josh Angevine will be taking on a new role this season as the Director of Player Development for the Park City Ice Miners. This position will consist of overseeing players individual and team skills progression over the course of the season by conducting two skill sessions a month per age group. Along with the new “skill specific practices”, Josh will be testing individuals both at the beginning and end of each season. Tests will include shot speed, skating speed, agility with and without the puck and much more. Josh believes the testing will bring a new fun, competitive element to the program while furthering the development of our players for higher levels of hockey.

Josh has been involved in the game of hockey for over 30 years and began his coaching career in 1995 as an instructor with Turcotte Stick Handling school under Sean Skinner. Other camps Josh has coached/instructed for are Stick with the Edge, Golden State Hockey Camp, 3 Brothers and San Jose Sharks summer camps. Josh is a certified U.S.A. Hockey Level 4 and an insured private hockey instructor. Josh specializes in puck handling, shooting, power skating, edge/body control as well as systems and team play. Josh is very excited to start his new position as Director of Player Development in addition to being the Head Coach for the U18 AA, Miners Varsity High School team and the Mite/Mini-Mite Practice Coordinator.

New Director of Hockey!

Press Release:  New Director of Hockey

Date:  January 18, 2017

Park City Ice Miners youth hockey program is proud to announce the hiring of Mike Adamek as the next Director of Hockey.  Mike will be taking over for the first hockey director in the history of the Ice Miners, Aaron Dufford who has been the Director of Hockey for the last six years.

Through Aaron’s leadership over the last six years, the Ice Miners have nearly doubled in the number of players involved;  added our first U16 AA team which has won the Utah State Championship 2 of the last 3 years; added our first U18 AA team; added two levels of competitive hockey teams at the Squirt (U10), Pee Wee (U12) and Bantam (U14) programs; and added a professional coaching staff at all levels of the program.  These are only some of the accomplishments that Aaron has achieved over his tenure.  One of the amazing characteristics of Aaron, is his ability to connect with all players.  There is no one else in the program who knows virtually all of the players by name and talks with every player that he meets.  Aaron will be missed as his family opportunities will be moving him out of the Park City area.

Mike Adamek is currently coaching the Ice Miner’s U18 AA team and coached the U16 AA team for the 3 years prior and won the Utah State Championship 2 of those 3 years.  Mike also works at the Park City Ice Arena as a supervisor and Hockey Academy coach.  He also is a Owner and coach of the 3 Brothers Hockey Academy which hold many hockey clinics throughout the year.  Prior to being part of the Ice Miner’s program, Mike was the Coaching Director of the Regulators and was the head coach and program manager for their  U18 AAA team.

The Ice Miners look forward to an exciting future with Mike as our Director of Hockey! (Mike Adamek can be reached by e-mail at PChockeydirector@gmail.com)
